This is Spago, a male Burmese, who was born in Long Beach, CA. The smallest in stature of the three but a feisty little bugger and he considers himself the alpha male around the house. He has a set routine each day. Up early in the morning and walk around the bed until I wake up to feed the feline posse. Next a little rest before joining us at the breakfast table. He lives for some time in Yoshiko’s closet with her before settling into his favorite spot by the window for more shut-eye. His Thai roots mean he is a sun worshipper. In 2011, Spago was diagnosed with Triaditis, a syndrome unique to cats, an inflammatory process that involves the liver, small intestine and pancreas. He stopped eating and lost weight. Initially he was fitted with a feeding tube through his nose and into his stomach. We were challenged to find the right balance of medications while maintaining food intake and daily saline injections. He was a trooper throughout the entire experience although not crazy about the weekly vet checkups. |
